Central Valley Community Foundation (Edward K. Martin Legacy Fund)
Strengthening community grounded conservation efforts and Tribal partnerships
Background
The Central Valley Community Foundation (CVCF), through the Edward K. Martin Legacy Fund, has generously provided a grant to support the Tule Trust’s efforts to support Tribal partnership-based conservation, watershed coalition coordination, and community-driven habitat restoration in the region.
This funding is critical to supporting our community-centered approaches that build lasting conservation efforts. Through this grant, the Tule Trust can strengthen its partnership with the Tachi-Yokut Tribe through participation in the Pa’ashi Coalition, an effort that explores opportunities for bringing back Pa’ashi (Tulare Lake). The funding supports efforts to bring together diverse stakeholders in our Watershed Coalition work. Lastly, this essential funding allows the Trust to identify opportunities to bring more community members to our Capinero Creek habitat restoration site to learn more about upland habitat restoration and the role that habitat conservation plays in sustainable groundwater management.
Tribal Acknowledgement
The Tule Basin Land & Water Conservation Trust works within the traditional homelands of many Tribes, including the Tachi-Yokut, Wukchumni, and Tule River Tribes. We acknowledge and respect the first peoples of this area and ways that we can collaborate with native people to move conservation forward in a good way.
